Bedding-in Procedure
1/. New Discs/DC Pads
1.1 Achieve optimal pad/disc surface contact by a serries of gentle braking applications
1.2 Repeat short brake applications, building up the heat, until the necessary TF is achieved on the disc (colour: uniform,thin black/dark blue layer), typically after 3 Laps.
1.3 Thereafter cool the brakes for 3-5 minutes.
2/. Discs already in use with DC Pads
2.1 Never clean (grind) disc surface when replacing to new DC Pads, otherwise the TF will disappear.
2.2 Repeat procedure of 1.1
2.3 There is no need to repeat 1.2 or 1.3
3/. Discs in use with other than DC Pads
3.1 Clean the surface of the disc from the layer of previous pad material.
3.2 Apply the procedures of 1.1 to 1.3
The TF procedure of 1.2 +1.3 is NEVER to be repeated on the same discs provided the usage of SBS-DC pads continues.
Replace the pads when the friction material is worn to 2mm or less. For Dual discs (front wheel) replace all four pads at the same time. Keep pads free of oil/dirt or other contaminants.
