Old and worn exhaust pipe gaskets prevent the the correct functioning of the the entire exhaust system. It is advisable to replace this gasket every time the exhaust system is disassembled. this gasket is installed between the exhaust pipe header and the cylinder head.

Assemble exhausts with a lot of patience, it is not straight forward. First insert the exhaust manifold into the head leaving the clamps very loose so that the tube has movement, then fit the balance pipe/collector along with the clamps keeping everything loose but supported. Attach the mufflers, align them and tighten everything just a little. continue aligning and tightening until complete.
