46504000.11 Clutch Friction & Steel Plates 650 &750 (1966-69 models only)
Product Description
This Clutch set includes friction plates and steel plates for Laverda 650 and 750 1966-1969 only.
The first model 650 and 750 Laverda had different clutch plates to all other 750 models. These early model clutch plates can be easily distinguished from later clutch plates by their internal diameter of 117mm. Steel plates for the 1969 GT clutch are no longer available as a separate new part.
Note: If your clutch plates measure 130mm internal diameter then purchase the later model Friction & Steel Plates Kit or Friction Plates Only
Most late models have M6 hex bolts installed to fix the cush drive cover plate to the clutch drum. Earlier models used 5mm diameter rivets
Remove these rivets to replace the cush drive rubbers. Grind off the tops of the rivets, use a 3mm or 4mm drill to drill out the full length of the rivet, then use a 5mm punch to gently tap them out. Take great care not to use excessive force that damages the alloy casting. Use an M6x1 Thread Tap to cut a thread in the alloy to accept M6x20 Hex Bolts and Spring Washers that replace the rivets. it is recommended for this procedure to be carried out by qualified persons using appropriate engineering equipment.
You are welcome to ship your clutch drum to us at DAM Classic Racing and we will complete this modification, fit new rubbers and return it to you with your parts order
Other Parts you may consider necessary to complete the replacement may be a Lock Tab Washer for the crank sprocket and a Primary Cover Gasket for your model.
INSTALLATION TIP
To enhance the benefits when fitting new SURFLEX Clutch Plates, it is recommended that new oil should be used .
The new friction plates should be submersed in the new engine or transmission oil for two hours prior to fitment.
This allows the clutch plate material to absorb the oil to assist with the initial start up and ongoing usage.
The other clutch components should be thoroughly inspected for wear and suitablity prior to re-assembly - replace if necessary.
